The walk is a moderate hiking route covering 8.1 miles (13.0 km) within Ouzel Valley Park.This trail offers a diverse experience combining tranquil waters, parkland, and historic waterways.

On this route, you can expect picturesque and tranquil views of Caldecotte Lake and Willen Lake. The Grand Union Canal section is notable for its traditional canalboats and charming stone bridges, offering a serene stretch for walking.

This interesting Chiltern walk enjoys ever changing scenery, from the initial ascent along the Ridgeway to ancient woodland, farmers’ fields and a stretch along the lazy river like canal to finish.

The walk follows mainly field paths, tracks, woods & streams, through undulating country side with good views from the hills traversed of the Chilterns. This gentle walk is perfect for those wishing to unwind and connect with nature after. Come along for a day of tranquillity.

Lewes to Seaford: This Week’s Walk Awaits You!

This weeks Saturday Bourne Walkers challenge is an exhilarating journey through the scenic beauty of East Sussex. We explore a captivating route from Lewes to Southsea and Glynde that winds through lush woodlands and serene countryside, perfect for nature lovers and walking enthusiasts alike. Navigation is easy, the walking is over wide and distinct paths, and while there are three substantial climbs, most of the walk is flat, gently undulating or downhill. Discover hidden gems and immerse yourself in the tranquil surroundings as we embark on this unforgettable adventure.

Discover Our Route: A Closer Look

Our challenging walk this week leads you through the picturesque landscapes of the South Downs, renowned for its stunning flora,wildlife and breathtaking views. You’ll encounter a variety of terrains, from gentle slopes to inviting hills and open downland, ensuring a delightful experience for all levels of walkers. We’ll take breaks for lunch at strategic points to appreciate the stunning vistas and the melodic sounds of nature.

Join Us: Perfect for All Walkers

Whether you’re a seasoned walker or just beginning your journey, our walks are designed with you in mind. We encourage friends, and solo adventurers to join in and make new memories together. Expect camaraderie, shared stories, and perhaps even a few laughs along the way. The pace is entirely your choice as their is no group leader, if you wish to divert, cut short, visit local attractions ,its entirely up to you. All we ask is you carry a copy of the route and download the gps to your device.

* Shorter walk options: As there is a station at the start and end of each section of this walk, you can do any one section as a walk in its own right.

Walkers are expected to be able to self navigate the routing of this course by the route description given or electronic files available. Maps in either paper or electronic format are a requirement for this walk.

LUNCH at: The The Trevor Arms (01273 047298) next to Glynde station reopened in 2025. One advantage it has over the nearby steamworks pub is a garden where you can sit outside in fine weather. Food is served 12-4pm Monday to Saturday and 12-5pm

To make the most of your walking experience, we recommend bringing along a sturdy pair of walking shoes, a refillable water bottle, and a light snack to keep your energy up. Weather can be unpredictable, so a light jacket or waterproof gear is advisable. Don't forget your curiosity and enthusiasm to explore the great outdoors!
